The Bat & Ball ground has played host to cricket in Gravesend for over 150 years. 'The Bat' as it is affectionately known is where Gravesend Cricket grew and still grows with an experienced adult section and an exciting colts section. The ground was used as a first-class cricket venue by Kent County Cricket Club between 1849 and 1971. It remains in use by Gravesend Cricket Club who have used the ground as their home since their formation in 1881.

With a history to relate to and a present and future worth supporting, G.C.C. will always welcome you to be part of 'Our Team'.
Gravesend C.C. runs a number of league and friendly sides to suit all standards. On Saturdays, the 1st and 2nd XI teams play in the Kent Cricket League. The 3rd and 4th XI teams are development sides with a strong focus on youth development playing in the Kent Regional League. The Shrimper's XI is a Saturday friendly side wandering the length and breadth of Kent and sometimes further afield. Gravesend also run two Sunday sides and a Wednesday XI.
Gravesend also run 6 colts teams ranging from Under 17 to Under 11 which play league matches and have training sessions every week. We have coaching sessions on Saturday morning for 6 to 11 year olds. Gravesend have qualified ECB coaches and provide instruction and fun sessions for all abilities.

New senior and junior playing members are welcome. And if playing is not your thing, you are welcome to the ground on Saturday to watch the first or second team play (the bar is generally open).
